In July 2023, the ERC Advanced Grant project GLOBAL (“Global Cleavages: The Shape of Political Conflict across World Regions in Historical Perspective”) was launched to investigate cleavages in global politics.
During the first three years, progress was made on data collection and initial analysis, as well as on several papers now in draft form. In addition, results have been presented at several conferences and in invited talks. This second internal intermediary workshop, toward the end of year 3 of the funding period, aims to gather feedback on the draft papers and plan for the next 3 years.
The workshop has three main goals. First, assess progress in the various work packages. Second, increase coordination between them to further standardise concepts and measurements, avoid overlaps, and homogenise the presentation of results. More importantly, several theoretical changes have been made and need to be integrated in the papers. Third, as the internal workshop introduces new collaborators and work-package leaders, one important goal is team building: getting to know each other better and fostering exchanges and collaboration on non-core papers (using project data and methods, but not core papers, and may not involve the PI).
By invitation only.
